Session 6a (Side Quest) Lord Tresendars Mansion

After a nasty confrontation with three redbrands the team decide to take a rest to recover a
little. During this time while Jamorin and Selmak sleep, Barlumin, Snowball and Gnarvik
decide to check out whats up the stairs to the ruins of the mansion.

After stepping through the doorway they are teleported to an alternate dimension and appear to be floating on a chunk of dirt in nothingness, confronted with what looks like a castle flying a blood red flag with a black eagle on it. Looking around they notice a wizard has appeared here with them. They introduce themselves briefly and move on. The wizard Pallas is a mercenary and is hunting a vampire.

They enter the door to find a finely finished foyer, with a very welcoming fireplace and a looming statue of an eagle carved out of black rock.

To the right is a set of double doors, and they can hear laughter and music coming from this room.

To their left is another set of doors but there is only the sound of periodic splashing water from this room.

As the party are discussing how they got here, who the wizard is and what he was doing here. The double doors to the right of the room fly open. A booming voice fills the room with sound "I am lord Tresendar, welcome to my home" The party look through the doors to see four pairs of skeletons dressed in what was fine clothing circling the floor in some kind of macabre dance.

"So what brings you to my realm?" Tresendar says as the party struggle to come up with a good story especially as the newly joined mercenary wizard was hunting vampires, he ran out of patience with a deep sigh Tresendar says "Well regardless I guess you want to leave here like the rest of the challengers who have managed to find their way here, I tell you what it seems like this party has gone on for far too long, I grow weary of watching these same eight skeletons circle the floor, if you were to send the guests home from this seemingly endless party I will return you to your realm, how does that sound?" Pallas as a mercenary doesn't immediately agree to do all of this for free, says "well what is in it for us? can you pay us say..hmm all the gold we can carry?" Tresendar laughs and says how about 100Gp each for sending these folk home? the party ask how many guests are around, and after Tresendar gives some rough hand wavy estimate that says more about where the guests are rather than how many they decide to get on with it.

The party engage the first two pairs of skeletons, the other pairs start circling each other rather than the entire dance floor, After a short battle the team were able to send all the dancers home, Tresender was ecstatic with the outcome, "bravo bravo" he yelled while applauding, Lady Tresendar smiling at his excitement. His skeletal dog sleeping soundly through the whole battle fireballs and all.

The team ask Lord Tresendar where they may find other guests "Ahh a thirst for combat I see, there are some in the dining room" he says pointing to the door to his right "Some in the board room, which is via the den through the foyer....good luck" He then asks Lady Tresender "My love would you do the honors?" Lady Tresendar leans over and pulls a red rope, sounding a bell. The Party feel refreshed, their wounds are healed and they feel ready for combat.

Opening the doors to the dining room the party find 4 more skeletons in formal wear sitting at a table discussing their absent meals "where is the food I am starving to death" "This food is taking an eternity" the team position themselves around the table and immediately attack, after the first blow is dealt, the Skeletons turn to the party and ask "Do you have our food yet?" when the party are unable to produce the food the skeletons attack with swords and shortbows. The party assist the the guests (with violence) to leave the dining room. The bell rang out through the mansion and again the team felt refreshed.

Next the party head into the kitchen where they meet Chef Wight who is madly running from table to table prepping food for the guests. the food looks beyond spoiled but the Chef still works it with enthusiasm. "Are you here to help prep food?" the Chef asks, the team are not sure they should take out Lord Tresendars Chef so they send Snowball back to ask, Tresendar smiles and says no, please leave Chef be.

Snowball relays this to the party and they tell Chef his services are no longer required, because the guests in the dining room had departed. Chef was sad about this and very slowly looking down at the floor walked over and placed his head in one of the ovens.

The group head back through the dining room, and ball room to the foyer where they listen carefully at the door to the den, they hear only periodic splashing of water. Upon entering the room they find a ghostly looking figure sitting staring into the fire. "Ugh I suppose you are here to send us home, well tell Tresendar that he will need to do it hiself' the spirit says and then resumes staring into the fire, every now and then the spirit takes a drink from a glass that refills itself as the liquid traverses the inside of its body to then splash on the floor. Pallas does his best Tresendar impersonation enhanced by magic and says "its time to leave spirit." but the spirit says "after this drink is done" and continues to drink from his endless glass. "The spirit turns to Tresendar and says, it could use warming up" Pallas after heating the water up and the spirit responding with "hotter" decides to firebolt the water as it runs down the spirits body causing it to scold its ghostly body and it flees the mansion. Searching the sofa reveals a torn business card with the remaining text "owball - entertainer" on it and 25 copper pieces.

On entering the board room, the team see 5 Skeletons in business attire, one sitting at the head of the table and 4 arguing for business cases and investment proposals, as the party enter the skeletons stand up and yell at them "This hostile takeover will fail like the last one" and take up arms, the party make quick work of them, and the bell tolls.

The party look around and notice a door in the corner of the room with drag marks like heavy items have been dragged in and out of the room, they open the door to find a chest and nothing else in the room. Barlumin and Gnarvik rush up to the chest and try to open it, finding that it opens a set of jaws and lashes out at them with a giant purple tongue. The party fight the mimic, firebolts, magic missiles, short swords and pseudopods flying around the room and a bruised and battered party managed to destroy the mimic. the bell tolls three times and a voice booms throughout the whole mansion "BRAVO BRAVO come to me and we will get you home"

The party return to the ballroom to a standing ovation from Lord Tresendar, he tosses them each a bag of gold, Gnarvik weighing it up says spot on that's 100Gp. Tresendar says "So I suppose you want to go home now" Turns to his sleeping dog and says "Time for dinner boy" The dogs ears prick up and its skeletal form stretches and opens its jaws. It yaps a few times, yap Yap YAp YAP...getting louder and louder, eventually getting so loud that the party cover their ears, the walls of the mansion, lady and lord Tresenedar dissapear and the party are confronted by a full size Red Dragon. The dragon roars so loud that all the party members are hurt, with bleeding ears, the party each take a turn to try and do some damage to the dragon, who basically laughs at their attempts and in one fell swoop burns them to a crisp.

The pain abates and the party awakens back in the basement of the mansion, they are each holding a bag with 100 Gp and they are charred and smoke is coming off their armor, but otherwise they are unharmed.....
