Session 28 - The Crash Site

 The party discuss the crash site in more detail with Kadroth and ask that two of his acolytes join them. He sends Thoob and Hurwar with them and they head out. Staying back for a private word Nox asks Kadroth of his allegiance with Levistus and explains that Levistus is also his Patron. 

Nox now has the full support of the Black Swords and is given his own crystal shard pendant and also a Crystal sword made out of Chardlyn. 

They head to the crash site via Duhgs cave where they find Duhg, Ghag and Tinjong relishing in her newly healed leg. She awkwardly hugs Throt and thanks him for his guidance to come here. 

The party spend the night and Throt orders Hurwar to hand over his pendant and go and bath in the bear cave pool, he returns a changed person, as Throt orders Thoob to do the same, he also is changed. 

Hurwar speaks with Throt of his mother, and Throt suggests he goes to see her, he explains however that he must continue to serve Levistus as he feels compelled to repay the Demon for his life, but he instead writes a letter to Cora explaining all.

The next morning Thoob is back to his usual self, Hurwar is unchanged and Nogok is acting differently, walking up to Nox and snatching the food he is eating out of his hands etc. This escalates and results in Nogok threatening to kill Duhgs Ogre - Friend. Duhg is devastated by this betrayal and grabs Nogok in a bear hug to stop him, Throt suggests he has a mind sickness and needs to be bathed, to which Duhg agrees and carries him to the pool where he throws him in. 

Nogok comes out of his rage and Throt asks for the pendant he was carrying in the Bag of Holding. Nogok throws it at the stones cracking it, and Nox picks this time to explain that he is also a servant of Levistus and while the party need not pledge to serve carrying the pendants can have an effect on people. Throt had buried Hurwars one in the night, and Nox takes the cracked one. 

The party head out to the crash site where on arrival they see a glow in the sky and decide to camp a distance away for the night and approach in the morning. 

As they approach they send snowy owl to recon who sees some large creatures that burrow under the snow at the rear of the ship. The ship looks like a giant sea creature with tentacles extending from the rear of it. Throt moves towards the rear of the ship as one of the giant creatures erupts from the snow. Instantly paralyzing him and dragging him into the ship. 

Throt is facing a strange short creature with tentacles coming from its chin, it speaks to him directly into his mind after he does not respond to verbal undercommon. The creature introduces himself as Vorryn a interplanar traveller and Illithid. He explains that their ship crashed while they flew in a blizzard, and that they were here to collect creature specimens and elaborate that it was polar bears, yetis and other creatures of the wilds around Icewind Dale. 

He goes on to explain that to fix their ship the require a Psi Crystal and shows Throt the detector they have that is making a clicking sound. He explains that it sense a Psi Crystal within 5 miles and they heard it start last night (when the party setup camp) and that one of their party must be in possession of a crystal. 

He states that he doesn't want to fight the group and they would reward them for the crystal, and apologizes for the way in which Throt was bought to audience. Throt is escorted through the ship and to the rear hatch, along the way he spots some more similar creatures like Vorryn who are tending to some animals in the hold. 

Throt is reunited with the party and explains what happened and that Vorryn seeks a crystal and one of them has it. To this Nogok reaches into his pouch and hands the crystal to Vorryn who in return hands Throt a laser pistol as a reward, explaining how to operate it. Throt asks the party who wants it and Layton accepts it firing a trial shot in the snow.

They watch as Vorryn calls his giant worms back into the ship and they make repairs. The Ship lifts up and flys away into what appears to be a large portal in the sky and the party head back to Dougans hole.
