Mochi continues the distraction of the baby Yeti which serves Throt well as once he spots it, the rage takes over and he mauls the baby Yeti leaving a bloody mess on the ground. Nogok wanders over to sample some baby Yeti Tartare.
The party chat with the person who the Yeti were holding as a plaything/late night snack, and discover them to be Perilou a halfling who explains they were part of Garrets party, and an avid follower of a Goliath Barbarian named Mokingo who had come here seeking Oyaminartok (A renowned Goliath warrior said to be 10 times stronger than other Goliaths) to test his mettle in combat.
Unfortunately they didn't find Oyaminartok, and his remains are kind of scattered around the floor of the Yeti den. Perilou asks what happened to Garrett and they party explained that he was sheltering outside when the avalanche occurred and that he didn't survive. Perilou explains that there is an additional party member that run up the mountain when the Yeti attack started. Asterix who was quiet and never spoke much.
The party decide to head up the mountain, and leave Perilou in the safety of the Yeti den. Mochi sends snowy owl up the mountain and finds a, singler person sitting in the snow looking over something which seems to be buried in front of them.
The party climb up to the camp, finding the person frozen solid, a tiefling, and buried in the snow they see a protruding set of boots. Throt pulls the body out by the boots, and discovers a decapitated Dwarf, they search him not finding much of anything, and search the tiefling to find a spellbook, and a potion.
Throt throws the book away, and Etch grabs it unsure of its retail value. They search around and find a half collapsed tent buried under some snow, inside they find some furs a bedroll, and a journal belonging to Barthoom, Explorer Extraordinaire. The Journal contains the following entries
1. Found some snow today.....And some rocks
2. Walking through rocks today I saw a goat....well...it turned out to be a snow drift but still exciting nonetheless.
3. I think I saw a shadow of a tree today.
4. Found an exceptionally large reserve of snow today, some of it was yellow and tasted funny
5. Motherlode. Today I found a rock that looks like an Egg....It didn't cook up all that well...heading up the mountain tomorrow to see what I can see from the top.
They toss the bodies down the to the ledge below and all make their way down the mountain, arriving at the bottom there is no sign of the dogs, but they are able to retrieve their sled. They pile the bodies on and search around for Garrett discovering his remains they also load him on the sled.
They head back to Caer-Konig, and to the Northern Light where they find a Dragonborn standing outside the inn with a bottle of wine, they approach him and determine that he is Trovus the speaker. They tell him of the Duegar stronghold and ask him if he can read the letter which he can, the letter reads:
Brother,
You will find me on the frozen ferry in Easthaven. From this new base, the search for chardalyn continues. Long may our father reign over this dark land!
Durth
Asking what Chardalyn is the party work out, that its the remnant ice from the tower raised by Akar Kessel when he waged war against the Ten Towners using the power of the crystal shard Crenshinibon. When Kessel was defeated and the tower fell the power that the tower contained leached into the surrounding ice and snow and infused it with dark energy creating Chardalyn shards. A matter that is cold to the touch and capable of being imbued with magical power, easier to work than steel and stronger, its highly sought after.
The party ask if Torvus knows of Barthoom, and he does, when they show him the body he is sad to hear of his passing, but unsurprised.
The head into the Inn after deciding they require more reward than the couple of rooms that had been promised. They march in with the lantern and Allie immediately offers them some flagons of ale on top of the promised rooms.
Perilou decides to part company with the party while she is clearly into Throt, she has had enough adventure for now, and decides that staying with the party would only attract more trouble in her life. She is thankful for them seeing her back to Caer-Konig. Allie however is not so immune to Throts charms, and as the rest of the party head to the hook line and sinker, to try their luck at another round of drinking, Throt decides to err turn in early for the night.
The party reconvene the next morning, Throt looking very pleased with his good night's rest. And the other disappointed that the locals wouldn't front the gold for a rematch of the drinking game.
The head out to return Garrett to his lover Keegan. They find Keegan saddened by the loss, and accepting that Garrett met his fate under heroic circumstances as explained by Etch who after explaining that Garrett fell to his death fighting off three Yetis, moves to the back of the group and draws something in the snow with his foot.
Throt starts to pick up bodies off the sleigh until he finds Garrets, and takes it inside where Keegan asks him to lay it on the table.
Keegan gives Throt a box with some Scrimshaw carvings in it of a fine quality and asks them to leave now so he can start to prepare Garrett for his funeral.
As they walk outside, Throt asks...um what do we do with the rest of the bodies.....and they decide to stash them outside of town incase they have need of them in the future.
