Session 14 - NO ONE DIED......

After hiding the bodies outside of Targos the party decide they will head to Bremen to check it out. The rock into town and arrive at the Buried Treasure Inn where some flirting by Throt she suggested uncomfortably that they go and check out the town after they finish their food.

Heading down to the docks they see a lone dwarf looking grumpy and as they approach he asks "What time do you call this, you were supposed to be here an hour ago, there are the boats now get fishing" he eventually introduces himself as Grynsk

After some intense discussion they determine that he was drunk last night and hired some fishermen that never showed, he won't take no for an answer and even as Etch heads off to get a flagon of grog with a forged note from him, he insists they they get out there and get fishing. Inspecting the boat they see what looks like a bite taken out of the back of one of them, and Grynsk insists that some foolhardy crew sailed it into an Ice floe.

Eventually as they are attempting to negotiate a higher fee then 5cp per fish, they are joined by an Elf who introduces himself as Tali, he asks if they could document any interactions with the monster of Maer Dualdon, to which Gynsk says there is no thing and storms off with a final "Ye lot get your sorry asses out there fishing"

They chat with Tali who explains that there have been sightings of a monster in the lake and the boat with the chunk out of it was found without the crew on the water several days ago. The party collect up some extra rope and spears that they had stashed on their sled and make up some harpoons, the mention of the monster piquing their interest in the fishing trip now.

They head out across about 1/2 a mile of ice, and then row for some time more until they are a further 1/2 mile from shore, they stop to do some fishing for about an hour to no avail, Kurash uses his Druidic insights to try and find a better fishing location and they row for some more time and try again. This time Throt catches a knucklehead trout and shortly after so does Mochi. As they reel them in a large shadow passes between the boats and circles around to ram one of them. This knocks Nogok into the icy water where is is quickly rescued by his boat mates.

The monster swims between the boats and Throt throws a harpoon at it, but it doesn't stick. It responds by diving into the depths, and a quick thinking Kurash summons a water elemental in the form of a Narwhale to chase it down, the Narwhal gets the monsters attention and draws it back to the surface, this time Throt manages to harpoon it, and the monster stops dead in the water.

As the party discuss what to do now they have harpooned it, the monster sits still in the water and raises its long neck and head out eventually responding to the group by saying "What did you do that for?"

After getting over the initial shock that the monster can talk they discuss why its been attacking fishermen and determine that a human named Ravisin did something that caused it to become sentient, and before that happened it was just a stupid creature cruising the waters for fish.

The party name the creature Laprus, and he explains that Ravisin had threatened to remove is intelligence if he doesn't serve the will of the frostmaiden, by terrorizing the fishermen.

They ask Laprus to stop, and he says he is afraid of losing his intelligence, The party ask for a week, to track down Ravisin and neutralize him, Laprus agrees to stop for now, and says that he will be at a specific location on the coast at dawn every morning and they can find him there before returning to the depths.

The party return to shore where they find Tali waiting for them anxiously, flanked by a impatient looking Grynsk who throws them 10cp for the two fish they caught before scurrying away with them.

Tali asks if they saw or documented anything etc, and when they mention that they saw the beast he gets very excited. He asks them back to the Buried Treasure in to interrogate them for every minute detail of their encounter.
