Pirates Ahoy! - Session 1

After an unsuccessful attempt at mutiny against the lacklustre Captain Blackwater, the group of scoundrels find themselves at the point of several scimitars being lead to the bring with their preferred Captain, Bastian Silversword. 

"Get in there you mutinus dogs, and I hope ye die down here for what ya did." an angry pirate shouts as his friend locks you in shackles that are well secured to the hull of the ship. Silversword winks at you as the pirates leave you alone, posting a guard outside of the door. 

The Brig is two barred cells in the back of the bursar's office. The office contains a locked metal bound wooden chest and a desk. 

You hear a click as Silverswords shackles pop open, and he uses the lock pick they had not found when they searched him to free you all. The pick holds up to the last set of shackles then crumbles, having done an admirable job. 

Silversword addresses you all "Well boys we didn't take her that time but the game is not over, fore they caught me I threw the sea cocks, so she's a sinking. We need to take the ship quick and get those sea cocks closed, so get to it ya scurvy dogs"

Searching the desk the party find a ledger, and writing implements, but nothing that can help them escape, they search the chest to find it locked they look around for a makeshift pick. Checking the floor for loose boards to pull a nail from they find one, and as they are trying to remove the nail the board lifts revealing a small canvas package underneath. Seeing an opportunity Wallace takes the board, and nail and uses it as a makeshift club. 

It seems like someone had planned on being caught, and had stashed a lock pick wrapped in oiled canvas a long time ago in here, the pick had been kissed by the salt water but was serviceable enough for at least three lock pick attempts. They decide to use the pick on the chest, managing to get it open in little time they find old ledgers, a length of rope and a dagger. 

Onno takes the dagger and Musubi takes the rope. The party open the door to the next room carefully finding it unpopulated. The room contains ladders to the upper decks, and down to the below deck. Checking the deck below they find it full of ballast and in accessible. As they discuss what to do a voice comes from beyond the doors to the rest of this level "Shut up ya dogs or Ill run ya through" The party retreat back to the Bursar's office and formulate a plan. 

Considering first using the lantern to set a fire to draw the guard in, and rejecting this plans from the Dark looks from Silversword concerning setting fire to his ship. The land on calling for assistance fainting an injury needing help, and using the rope to trip they guard, once down Onno would dispatch him with the dagger. 

The trap is set, Musubi and Wallace position themselves with the rope, Onno stands poised, and Cubby calls out "Help me mate is dying" somewhat unconvincingly

The guard calls back "Shut up ye dog" and Cubby tries again "I mean it he is dying.....I mean there is a fire....I mean help" The guard grows tired with his bullshit and comes running in to put an end to him. 

At the right moment Wallace Pulls on the rope, far outweighing the strength that Musubi puts into the effort, which pulls Musubi into the guard and knocks him flat.  Onno comes in and stabs the guard missing the vital organs that he was aiming for but still hits enough spots to cause some damage. Wallace comes in with his club and finishes the job. 

The party peer out into the next room, which is the hold. They don't hear anyone moving around, and see an hand axe laying on one of the barrels. They search the guard whose name was Hayward, and find 10sp in a pouch, Snakeroot takes up his scimitar and Cubby grabs that hand axe. 

The scuffle (murder) of the guard cause enough commotion that some of the other pirates decide to investigate. The party hear two more pirates call out "Barnacles are you ok?" as they come down the passage between the stacked cargo, the party jump one of them and take him down...brutally with Cubby using his axe to cleave the pirates head in two splattering brain matter around the room. Cubby picks up the pirates Split hat and puts it on. Wallace takes a vest off one of the bodies, and the party collect more scimitars, everyone now has a weapon. 

They ask the other pirate if he will join them, and he agrees. His name is Darnell and he explains that more are coming these ones are not Silversword supporters. The party prepare themselves for an ambush and as the two pirates enter the room they jump them with a series of attacks from atop the cargo and flanking them they quickly manage to take them down.
