After deciding not to interfere with the local politics in Vallaki by destroying Lady Fiona for having a sad house, the party retreat to the Blue Water Inn, where they establish with the help of Gnarvick, Urwin and a smoke outside that they had done the right thing. Fiona is a servant of Strahd and the town did not need his wrath from her demise.
The party retire for the night and awake the next morning, some of them are well rested others not so much, they eat bacon, eggs and some kind of oatmeal gruel and hit the road.
Along the way they encounter a group of 6 men in tatter clothes blocking the road. They refuse to move out of the way, and pallas uses Thaumaturgy to make a sound of a wolf howling just off the path in the forest, two of the men immediately run in that direction, the rest begin to transform into wolf form and combat ensues.
As they fight, Baroman is bitten, but narrowly escapes becoming a werewolf, Grimdur however was not so lucky and is infected with the curse of lycanthropy. The players eventually take care of most of the werewolves and when only two remain Davian summons a flock of ravens to take them down.
They part ways with Davian and he asks again that they reconsider chasing the gems down for the good of all people in Barovia, he doesn't accept no for an answer and leaves it with that the winery is always open to them should the need it, and he hopes they will come soon in search of the gems.
They head to Krezk where Dimitri greets them, and takes them to Ismark and Ireena, They learn that the Abbot comes to town to visit the shrine and accept an offering of wine every few days, that Ismark has been unsuccessful in getting anyone to bless the holy symbols he had made for them and also that Ismark believes Dimitri is hiding something but has yet to work out what it is.
The party decide to go and visit Dimitri to try and work out whats going on. Dimitri welcomes them into his home, and serves them some wine, they ask about the Abbot and the Abby and determine that the Abbot visits on a pretty regular schedule.
Grimdur tries to intimidate Dimitiri to reveal whatever it is that he is holding back on, to no avail Dimitri states "I am the lord of this town and I expect to be treated as such" Gnarvick applies some empathy and care, putting his arm around Dimitiri's thigh and says its ok we are just wanting to help. Dimitri breaks down and confesses that his last remaining son died of sickness not 2 weeks a go and that they had just buried him.
He is worried that the mongrelfolk will rob is grave as they have done with his other siblings who also perished and are buried in the family plot. Dimtri confesses that this is the end of his families bloodline, he and his wife are too old to bear any more children and this is hitting him hard.
