Session 20 - Garden Management

After looting the master bedroom of the house and taking a long rest the party head downstairs to explore some more of the winery.

They find a veranda area with large tubs used for crushing the grapes to extract the juice, as they look around at the misty vineyard they spot the killer tree which at this point is motionless and non threatening.

They head back inside and find a room with glassblowing equipment that they conclude is used to create the wine bottles, in this room there is a stairwell heading down to a basement, on exploring the party realize there are three ways into the basement, as the spiral staircases at each corner of the building have a down passage as well.

Baroman heads down the stairs and listens at the door, hearing movement inside, he opens the door enough to see a bunch of Needle Blights and a Druid, he heads back upstairs to coordinate the attack with the rest of the party.

Ismark stays at the entry to the glass room, Snowball, Gnarvik and Pallas head to the west stairwell and sneak a peek into the room, they see a wine cellar with an empty rack, and a small hallway leading to another room. Baroman, Jamorin and Grimdur position themselves on the stairs ready to bust through and make the attack, however as Gnarvik sneaks into the room he knocks a broken wine bottle and alerts the foes to his presence.

Baroman bust through the door and everyone has moved, the needle blights are blocking the way between rooms and the Driud is headed for the stairs to the east and making their escape. Baroman heads back up and tries to catch them but is not fast enough.

Jamorin and Grimdur bust through the door and start fighting the needle blights, while snowball uses his deck of illusions to throw down a distraction for them, unfortunately he draws a hill giant and the illusion is too big for the space and not so convincing.

Baroman spots a vine blight waiting outside the loading dock and sneaks around to see there are 4 of them and the two escaped Driuds setting up an ambush for the party. He successfully sneaks back down to the basement where the party have taken down the needle blights.

Planning a coordinated attack Ismark, Snowball and Gnarvik head around the outside of the house to flank the ambush, while Grimdur, Baroman and Jamorin head directly into the trap, and Pallas heads upstairs to snipe them from the second story.

The begin their assault and are able to take down the two druids first then the remaining vine blights, as Snowball was moving up during combat he made an incredible flip over about 10ft of summoned vines which were trying to entangle him earning a great deal of respect from Ismark. Pallas jumps from the second story and Snowball starts humming the popular song "its precipitating tieflings".

Pallas finds one of the Druids was holding a staff, he inspects it closely and casts identify on it, to determine it is what was used to summon the blights and that destroying it would kill all blights within earshot.

The party are in the process of trying to hook up the horses when the cloaked figure appears from the mist and asks them before they go to please take care of the killer tree that as is mentioned they all notice has moved up on their position.

Jamorin breaks out the cask of poisoned wine and throws it at the tree causing it to take some poison damage and get angrily reanimated, and the battle progresses with Fireballs, wrathful smites and other ranged attacks until finally Gnarvik kills the tree once and for all.

The cloaked figure asks the party if they would escort the wine deliveries to the three locations that require wine, the party are discussing this and considering there options and this is the end of the session...
