Session 14 - Conclusion

Exploring the last of the mines, the crew stumble upon a statue made of iron, as they get closer, its eyes light up with fire and it raises its sword.

Selmak quickly learns that his axe is of no use here, Grimdur follows suite and determines that his javelin doesn't work either. Pallas and Gnarvick magic missile the Golem, Jamorin wrathful smites it and Barlumin straps some dynamite to an arrow.

Making sure the party are more or less clear Barlumin lights the twisted fuses and decides to do a run by drop instead lest he was to miss the shot.

He is able to run in and drop the dynamite close to the Golem, it creates a huge explosion that causes the golem to lose the use of its legs it is now fixed in place.

The team continue to battle the giant statue, and Gnarvick has an idea, recalling how Golems are made he decides to try and stealthily climb up and try and open its head to remove the scroll inside that makes it sentient. He pulls it off climbing up a leg back and damaged arm to sit behind its head. The Golem doesn't know Gnarvick is there as he starts to try and open the head only to find it locked, he gets to work on it with Thieves tools while Selmak climbs up, with no attempt to hide his action, and tries to rip the head open to no avail. The Golem manages to throw him off, and the rest of the party continue to attack. Grimdur climbs up and tries to pry the head open with a Javelin, which breaks at the attempt, and Gnarvick shortly after manages to pick the locks. Faced with a ball of magical fire, our Rouge does what he does best and tries to steal the scroll...Lucky his quick reflexes allow him to stick a hand in and retrieve it fast enough to take minimal damage, and the Golem is no longer sentient.

As he falls still the doors burst open and a floating ball with tentacles ending in eyes comes out. Immediately next to Barlumin and Snowball. The ball makes a Wounding attack on Barlumin who avoids taking any damage, and a fear ray at Snowball who is far to brave to be affected.

Snowball casts Bestow Curse on the ball who deflects the spell onto Selmak, Gnarvick is hit with a fear ray but shrugs it off to magic missile the ball, followed up by Pallas with more magic missiles which pave the way for Jamorin to Longsword the ball in two.

Taking a minute to compose themselves the band of warriors notice a door, which of course they love to bash open and kill whatever is behind.

They make their way to the door and as they open it they are confronted by a ghostly form, the ghost was once a wizard who had worked in the mines imbuing items with powerful magic. His room contains a stone pillar with a bright green magical energy emitting from a ball at the top. Any weapon placed in here would be imbued with magic for 24 hours. The spirit asks the party what magical offerings they have, and that it finds their presence there highly offensive. As if to confirm this Selmak takes a crap on the floor in front of the Spirit. The party decide to give the spirit the scroll from the Golem, it returns a strip of the scroll for Selmak to wipe his ass with.

The spirit opens a charred chest and gives the party some coins in a bag, but they notice more treasure remains in the chest. And as per the usual course of events the team manage to kill the crap out of the already dead wizard and take the meagre possessions that he wanted to keep in the chest.

Returning to town the team see Gundren, and tell him Nundro survived but his other brother did not, Gundren thanks them and explains how payment will be stored in town and they can access their 10% earnings any time they are around. The Townmaster approaches the group and tells them they have 3 days to leave town, they will not be welcome for extended times anymore after what happened to the redbrands in the main street. They team clean up get drunk, clean up again and Selmak announces he is taking his gold and seeking revenge on some people that wronged him in his military days. Once he leaves the townmaster comes to see the group and lets them know they can now stay a little longer if they like.

This concludes the lost mines campaign.
