Session 13 - Raid on the black spider

 After cleaning out the bones of the dead dwarfs and gnomes that died protecting this barracks and the quickly decaying flesh of the bugbears the party settle down for the a nice long rest. Pallas reads a book, Snowball sings baby shark for 25 hours, Barlumin uses the hair from dwarf skeletons to thread a new bow string, Gnarvick sneaks off looking for treasure and Selmak sharpens his axe (yes for the entire time)

They are awoken by a knocking at the door, a gruff voice says Im Grimdur, Gundren sent me to help move things along. They open the door to another bloodthirsty psychotic dwarf who wants to tag along to kill things. "I followed the freshly dead and found you let's kill some things" he grumbles. 

Prepping their things they open the other door on the other side of the room and are greeted by a large gelatinous mass of a brownish orange color. The Ochre mass is chewing on some very chewed on bones while the party surround it. They start to work away at it, Pallas tries to set it on fire, Gnarvick pokes it with his shortsword. Jamorin tries to hit it with his long sword and misses. The Selmak slashes at it with his great axe.....now there are two jellies looking at the group hungrily. The party however manage to take them down before they can get eaten by them and move along.

the party discover a room with a large chasm in the middle, there are ropes to climb down but as they enter they are greeted by some bug bears and a drow, as per the stand operating procedure for this party they quickly decimate them, one of the bug bears however manages to get a hit in. The drow fights and then misty steps his misty ass out of the fight, the party sees him reappear and run down a hallway. 

They search around and find a skeleton buried under some rubble in a completely different part of the chasm from where the bugbears were digging, this skeleton has a lot of arrows in it and looks like it was killed by a large amount of rock being dropped on its head. Is wearing some very shiny gauntlets which Pallas is able to identify as Gauntlets of Ogre Strength, they imbue these to Snowball as the weakest member of the party and while he struggled to lift them once he got them on he is now much stronger and available weekends to help with house moves. 

The party follow the misty drow and find a locked door and an unlocked door, they open the unlocked door and see the Drow, another Elf with a spider staff, and 4 giant spiders. The Spider staff elf addresses the party, "I am the black spider join me or..." but before he could finish the party were in attack mode, taking down the 4 spiders, then the black spider very easily, and finally dealing with Vhalak the misty assed elf. The black spider has a staff and a key on his person...well had a staff and key. 

Looking around the room the party notice a very large statue of Dumathoin, the dwarven god of mining with very pretty shiny gems for eyes, after establishing that the warhammer on her lap was a carving and not a functional giant warhammer, Selmak and Grimdur decide that as dwarfs they would be wise to steal her eyes.

Climbing the statue was easy enough and Grimdur goes first, using the point of his Javelin he pops the green gem from her eye socket......As he turns and holds it up in triumph the pillars around the room crack and everyone has to scatter their way out. The mange the grab the spider staff and everyone except snowball makes it out with minor injuries...Snowball not so much. Grimdur takes a closer look at the gem and works out that its actually glass as its now in two pieces in his hand. 

The party fix themselves up a little then after hearing raspy breathing through the locked door, try the key. They open the door to find a battered and beaten dwarf who after they him wake up, asks if they know Gundren. The dwarf is his brother Nundro who heads out back to town and lets the group know there are more horrors in the cave they are yet to confront and decimate.
